Key Highlights

  • Global mergers and acquisitions have been on the rise since 2013. In 2016, OECD’s Global Forum on International Investment noted the trend, confirming three years of annual growth in global M&A since cross-border M&A volumes last declined in 2012. 2017 has seen the trend continue, with a significant increase in deals value $500m – $5bn.

  • 2018 looks set to follow suit – with an imbalance of excess capital and deployment opportunities primarily responsible for driving the trend.
